The old FRSSE/UK GAAP templates are still available within the package. The new templates can optionally be used for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2015. Due to recent company law changes, the new small company template is considerably simpler than the old FRSSE template

  • VT Transaction+. All transaction entry dialogs. The year is correctly auto suggested when entering the date for financial years that end on 29 February

June 2016 release 2
  • VT Final Accounts add-in. Incorrectly installed VT toolbars are automatically deleted, and re-installed when Excel is re-started
June 2016
  • VT Final Accounts add-in and VT Filer. Accounts tagged using the FRS101, FRS102 (included FRS105), and full IFRS taxonomies can now be filed electronically with Companies House. Companies House only recently started accepting these taxonomies. To file accounts electronically, choose the VT XBRL>Companies House command on the Add-Ins tab in Excel
  • VT Function Library add-in and VT Final Accounts templates. The SWITCH function has been renamed VTSWITCH. This function changes words such as Profit to Loss when the sign of a number in another cell changes. Microsoft recently added a function also called SWITCH into Excel 2016 (with completely different functionality). This caused erroneous results in cells containing VT's function if the cell was also edited.  The VT Function Library add-in still contains the old SWITCH function for compatibility with existing workbooks

December 2015
  • VT Final Accounts templates. A template for medium/large company accounts prepared under FRS102 has been added. This template is tagged using the new FRS102 taxonomy.

February 2015

  • VT Transaction+. Set Up>Options>User>Force Windows to save changes to disk immediately. The default for this option has now been set to ticked. This should prevent data losses arising from PC or network crashes. A very small number of users experienced problems

  • VT Transaction+. An Edit>Copy Account Names And Addresses command has been added. This copies the names, addresses and contact details of all the accounts in the customers or suppliers ledgers to the Clipboard. They can then be pasted into Excel

  • VT Transaction+. An Edit>Import Transactions command has been added. This is identical to the existing Transaction>Universal Input Sheet command. There is also a button on the toolbar. Many users were unaware that you could import multiple transactions

  • VT Final Accounts add-in. The corporation tax taxonomy required for accounting periods starting on or after 1 April 2015 has been added. You will be prompted to automatically select this taxonomy when it is required. The VT workbooks do not require re-tagging as most tags remain the same. If you have customised a computation and used tags that are no longer valid, the software will prompt you

  • VT Final Accounts add-in. Text in square brackets is no longer tagged. Note: square brackets are used to indicate that data should be entered; any rows that are not completed are hidden by AutoHide

June 2014 (release 3)
  • VT Final Accounts add-in. Small changes have been made to the Copy Accounts Data/Paste Accounts Data feature. The selected corporation tax taxonomy and the FRSSE version are no longer copied between workbooks. This was very confusing behaviour
June 2014 (releases 1 and 2)
  • VT Final Accounts company templates - iXBRL tax computation. Re-tagged with new set of tags as required by HMRC. Mandatory for periods ending on or after 1 April 2014. Earlier adoption NOT allowed (the old templates are still available within the package - they are listed at the bottom of the New Accounts Workbook dialog)

  • VT Final Accounts company templates - audit report. Updated with reference to Strategic Report (or absence of one in the case of small companies)

  • VT Final Accounts company templates - audit report. Scope of audit web address updated

  • VT Final Accounts small company and micro-entity templates. The version of the FRSSE has been updated to January 2015 (earlier adoption is allowed)

  • VT Transaction+. There is now an option to send emails from VT Transaction+ using the new VT Send Mail program. Sending emails via the default mail program was problematic for some users and was not applicable for web based email accounts. You will be asked if you want to use this new program when you first send an email in the new version

  • VT Final Accounts LLP template. Debtors note. Amounts due to members changed to Amounts due from members

May 2012
  • VT Function Library add-in. The corporation tax rates table has been updated to include the year starting 1 April 2012

  • VT Transaction+. The PAY, CHQ and REC buttons on the main toolbar can no longer be used to enter transactions where the bank account and analysis account are denominated in different currencies. These types of transactions should be entered via the buttons in the customer or supplier's account window so that exchange differences and charges can be properly accounted for. Alternatively, a journal can be used to make any set of entries to any combination of currency accounts

  • VT Final Accounts add-in program. A small technical change has been made to the format of iXBRL files. This change was to have been mandatory by April 2012. However, after requests from VT Software and others, HMRC have agreed to support the old format for the foreseeable future. Hence this change is no longer of any consequence to users

  • When installing onto Windows Server, the permissions on the file VTShell.dll now include users without administration rights in all circumstances

March 2011 Issue 3
  • There was a technical error in iXBRL tax computation files generated by VT Final Accounts which caused them to be rejected by HMRC on submission. This software bug has now been fixed

  • Tagging information was lost if there was an apostrophe in the sheet name in Excel. This software bug has now been fixed

  • In the large companies template, Director 1 was tagged as Highest paid director. There is no need to explicitly tag the highest paid director and the tag has now been changed back to Director 1. There is no need to change workbooks already created

March 2011 Issue 2
  • The March 2011 edition contained a warning which prevented you from proceeding if the company registration number did not consist of 8 characters. This is the official format adhered to by most third party corporation tax packages. A number of users were omitting leading zeros in VT and getting a rejection message from HMRC (data in accounts does not match CT600). However, the HMRC filing product does not allow leading zeros to be entered! Hence the warning has been removed
  • A few users with Excel 2010 were getting an error using the VT Final Accounts>Edit>Paste Accounts Data function. This was caused by a bug in Excel 2010. VT have applied a workaround and the problem should no longer occur

  • Cover sheet has the title Report and unaudited accounts even if audit report option chosen. This was a software error that has now been fixed. Please turn the audit report off and then back on to fix the wording. Unless you have selected one of the ICAEW accountants reports, the wording should say Report and accounts

  • Invalid use of null message when generating an iXBRL file. This occurred when there was mixed formatting in the same cell (eg a mixture of bold and not bold in the text in a single cell). This fault has now been fixed.

  • Tagging information not available for sheets with a hyphen or other special character in their name. This has now been fixed

  • Erroneous error message when the company registration number contained letters such as SC. This fault has now been fixed
